Tim Meydam, owner of EasyModelTrains.com, has loved model trains from a very young age. His father owns one of the pre-war Lionel sets. One day, he brought this set down from the attic and set it up to show his two older sons. Little Timmy was watching, but was not allowed to touch the train. He was too young.
When Tim was a little older, he remembered that the old Lionel train was in the attic. He went up there, got the train out, and started playing with it – without permission. Tim got caught, of course, and got in trouble. That was the end of the train, for a while.
When Tim was 13, some kids from his church invited him over to their house. Their dad had an O scale train layout that strongly interested Tim, and so he bought his own first train set, the Lionel O27 Great Plains Express. This set also got Tim’s Dad excited about model trains again, and the two of them would play with this set together.
Since that time, Tim has expanded his collection of O gauge trains to four engines, numerous cars, track, and other accessories. The space to put all this is an ongoing project in the Meydam household and the results of that project are the plans that we offer here at EasyModelTrains.com. We hope you will benefit from Tim’s efforts as much as his family has!
Tim met his wife Janet in 2005 and they were married on a real train in July of 2007 in Spooner, Wisconsin. They currently live near Green Bay, Wisconsin with their three teenage children, one dog, two cats, and multiple collections, including, of course, model trains.
